is the output of placing a Bone in a Crafting Grid. Bonemeal can be used as a
fertilizer on trees and crops, causing them to instantaneously
grow.
Bow: A craftable
weapon out of three sticks and three pieces of string. Fires
arrows.
C
Cactus: Cacti are
only able to grow on Sand blocks and must have a one block clearance on all
sides as well as the top or else it will not grow (if a block is placed directly
next to an already grown Cactus, it will destroy it). Cacti also have the
benefit (and even harmful if not used correctly) of providing defense against
mobs - any mob, including the player, will be hurt if they run into a Cactus.
They do not need a water source to grow and can be placed on a single sand
block; it will grow three blocks high.
Cake: An
item promised by Notch if Minecraft won the 2010 Indie of the Year Awards (which
it later did.) Cake was added to the game in the Beta 1.2 Update. You can craft
cake with three Milk, one Egg, three Wheat, and two

hand and in their inventory.
Coal: A resource
obtained by mining coal ore with a pickaxe. Used as a
fuel.
Crafting: One of the
main aspects of Minecraft is the crafting, hence MineCraft. Crafting is what

particularly vicious mob that is aggressive to the player. It makes a sharp
SSSS'ing sound prior to when it is about to explode. Take caution when fighting
this mob.
D
Death:
Death can occur both to the player and other mobs. Mobs will drop items, and so
will the player if they were carrying any. Death occurs when the health of the
mob reaches 0. The items dropped will disappear over a period of
time.
Dirt: Most readily
available block type when starting a new adventure. Dirt blocks can also grow
grass by placing them adjacent to another dirt block that already has grass on
it. Can also be tilled with a Hoe for growing crops.
Dispenser: A
block designed as both an item storage unit and an arrow launcher. It is created
using seven cobblestone, one bow, and one redstone dust. These blocks can only
be activated with a redstone circuit, and are primarily used in
trap-making.

0-2 and Zombie pigmen have rare chance of dropping 1 or 2. This is an item
currently only useful for creating arrows.
Flint and Steel: Craftable item made of Flint and an Iron Ingot.
Used to set flammable items alight. Also used to activate Portals. Use with
caution, as fire spreads quickly.
Flood:

a crafting grid will produce their respective dye colors. Flowers cannot be
"farmed" like Sugarcane or Cacti.
G
Glass: A transparent
block that breaks very easily. Mostly for aesthetics, but can also offer
protection against mobs as there are none that can break blocks yet. Glass is
created by smelting sand in a furnace. One block of sand yields one block of
glass. If you break glass, you do not get the glass block
back.

Infdev: Stands for
Infinite Development. This version came after the Indev stage, and before the
Beta stage. "Infdev works by generating an area of land for the player when they
first spawn, then continues to generate more land as the player ventures into
unexplored areas. The maps generated by infdev can theoretically be up to eight
times larger than the surface of the Earth (though much smaller volume-wise
since maps are only about 64 meters deep). " Source Minecraft Wiki http://www.minecraft...net/wiki/Infdev.
Ingot: Created
from smelting an ore, these are used in a variety of applications, including
(but not limited to) tools, armour and the specific ore's metal block. There are
a number of different ores; coal, iron, redstone, gold, lapis lazuli, diamond
and obsidian. Obsidian, lapis lazuli, coal and redstone do not make weapons and
armour. Also, coal and redstone do not make ingots. Please see Kubik/the Wiki
for full recipes.

deep underground. Can be used for dyes, or crafted into a block using 9 of the
mineral. It is said to be as rare as diamond, although it is spread over a
larger area.
Light: Light is an

Level 6-0 light will spawn night mobs (Creepers, Zombies, Skeletons). 7-16 will
make night mobs not spawn, but will not stop them from going into that area
unless it is daytime. Caves will spawn night mobs because they are dark even in
the day. Torches have level 14 light, with a 6 square radius on each side.
Lightstone has light level of 15.
Lightstone: A
block that is only found naturally in the Nether and which generates light. When
it is broken with a pickaxe it produces lightstone dust. Produces a light level
of 15.
Lightstone
Dust: A resource that is
obtained by mining lightstone. It can be crafted into a lightstone block and
placed to generate light.
Logs: Harvested from
trees. Logs are needed to create Wooden Planks (Sometimes just called Planks)

in dungeons surrounded by cobblestone/mossy cobblestone. These mob spawners will
continually spawn a specific mob type (which appears as a spinning miniature
version inside the mob spawner itself), until sufficient light is placed around
the spawn area. They can be broken, but once they are broken they are gone
forever.
Mod: A Mod
(Moderator) is a member of the Minecraft community with powers such as banning

Slip', is a treacherous plane of death and destruction. Floating blocks of
Netherrack, lava falls... and deadly mobs. This place is dangerous, and is only
accessible by a Portal.
Netherrack:
A material only found in the Nether, and
when set alight, burns indefinitely. Good for creating light. It breaks
extremely easily, even with bare hands.

lava.
Portal: A Portal is
created with ten pieces of Obsidian, and then the centre is set alight with a
flint and steel. A Portal is the only way to access the Nether, and its
contents. It is possible for portals to open randomly, and mobs such as Ghasts
can fly through and rain fireballs on your world.
Pumpkin:Was
introduced in the Halloween Update. A rare block found on the surface. Can be
harvested to make Jack O' Lanterns.
Q
R
Raw Porkchop: A food
item that is obtained by killing pigs, which drop 0 to 2 pieces of pork when
killed. Raw Porkchops do not stack in your inventory. Pork can be cooked via
furnace into a Cooked Porkchop which heals 4 Hearts, as opposed to Heart and a
Half for raw. Can also be reffered to as Bacon/Ham or
suchlike.
Redstone: A red
conductive mineral found deep underground. When mined, it can be used to make
electrical circuits (See the Wiki for detailed information), or in crafting
compasses, redstone torches and dispensers.
Redstone Dust: Resource gathered from mining Redstone. Placing
this on the floor creates wires. Joining these wires up to doors, levers and
other mechanisms creates a circuit. These circuits require redstone torches to
power them.
Redstone Torches: Created in the same way as normal torches,
except the coal is replaced with mined redstone. Used to power redstone
circuitry.
Reeds: The archaic
term for Sugarcane. Reeds were the name assigned by players until
Beta.
S
Sand: Found in
desert biomes or usually on the coast (beaches). Four sand blocks in a crafting
grid can make Sandstone. Sand can also be heated in a furnace to produce Glass.
If a block is mined from underneath a sand block, the sand block will fall into
the newly unoccupied space. Be careful as this can cause cave
ins!
Sandstone: Made by
crafting four sand blocks in a crafting grid. This block retains the similar
look of sand while making it more durable and it will not fall like a regular
sand block.
Sapling: Obtained by
destroying (or waiting for Leaves to decay after chopping it down) the Leaves on
a Tree. Saplings can be planted anywhere as long as it's on grass, but they need
sufficient light and room to grow or they will stay a Sapling forever.
Destroying a planted Sapling will give it back to the
player.
Seeds: Seeds can
only be planted on tilled (using a Hoe) grass block. For the seeds to grow, the
grass block must have an adjacent water source next to it or else it will die.
Seeds are also able to be obtained while tilling grass or dirt
blocks.
Skeleton: An
aggressive mob that spawns in dark places or night, skeletons are the other mob
that burn in sunlight when it hits them. Skeletons uses a bow and
arrows.

Sometimes referred to as Smoothstone.
Found in caves and on the surface around mountains, or a few blocks down beneath
dirt. Mining Stone will produce Cobblestone.
Sugarcane: Referred
to as Reeds before the Beta update. Sugarcane can be found growing next to water
sources on grass blocks. It can be harvested and replanted for farming much like
Wheat, except the land does not need to be tilled first. Three Sugarcane
horizontal in a crafting grid will produce Paper. Sugarcane will grow three
blocks high.
T
Tree: Produces
the staple material in Minecraft - Logs. All trees can only grow on grass blocks
and must have a light source (torch or sun) to fully develop. There are many
shapes and sizes, but only two types of trees - birch trees and the "normal"
tree. Some biomes have differently shaped trees. Saplings can be obtained from
the leaves of a tree, and Logs can be obtained by chopping down the tree
itself.
U
V
W
Wheat: Wheat is only
able to grow on a tilled (using a Hoe) grass block that is adjacent to water. If
there is no water adjacent to the wheat, it will die. Once fully grown, wheat
can be harvested which yields Wheat (duh) and sometimes
Seeds.
Wooden
Plank: Obtained by placing 1 Log
in either Crafting Grid which results in 4 Wooden Planks. A variety of uses,
from creating a wooden floor, to furniture, to making sticks or
boats.
World: Every new
Minecraft world is randomly generated and will include many different Biomes.
Every world is unique and has its advantages and disadvantages. You should learn
your world well, and create bases in advatagous positions such as high
mountains, because then you can create a mining shafts, etc and you can see far
distances.

flint and steel.
Skeletons uses a bow and
arrows.
SMP: Survival

from around the world and create anything you like. The server saves your
creations.
Spawn

first spawn in Minecraft, and where you subsequently respawn when you die. This
is the location that the compass points to.
Sticks: Created by
placing 2 Wooden Planks in a Crafting Grid vertically, which yields 4 Sticks.
Sticks are necessary to make just about everything in Minecraft, such as Tools,
Torches, and Arrows.
Stone:
Saplings can be obtained from
the leaves of a tree, and Logs can be obtained by chopping down the tree
itself.

You should learn
your world well, and create bases in advatagous positions such as high
mountains, because then you can create a mining shafts, etc and you can see far
distances.
